Abstract

Obesity and mental health problems remain prevalent amongst young adolescents with many of them never acquiring treatment due to limited resources. School-based interventions, like the Creating Opportunities for Personal Empowerment healthy Lifestyles Thinking, Emotions, Exercise, and Nutrition (COPE TEEN) program, can be an easy and effective way to help reduce obesity rates, depression, anxiety, and stress levels among students. The COPE TEEN program teaches students effective strategies on how to reframe their mindset to deal with unpleasant situations while also teaching them how to adopt healthy lifestyles (Melnyk et al., 2015)
