Abstract
Jeanette Rhuebottom explains how her and her husband, Harry Rhuebottom, migrated to the I.E. in the 1940s, as a result of his military status. After they moved to San Bernardino, Harry hosted a radio show, The Harry Rheubottom Show, which let them interact and interview politicians and musicians. Jeanette Rhuebottom describes her work in the Swans Club and helping African American girls prepare for Debutante Balls, where her husband assisted with the club as well. The Ball and the Swan Club were viewed as a rite of passage for the girls and a way to gain mentorship from older role models. Jeanette Rheubottom sheds light on her volunteer position as a Pink Lady at San Bernardino Community Hospital.
