Abstract
FROM THE SIDEWALK OF OUR STREET is a collection of short stories written while fulfilling the requirements for the M.F.A. in Creative Writing at California State University, San Bernardino. The collection features stories set in the Coachella Valley, a Southern California valley that extends from south of the San Bernardino Mountains to Salton Sea. Nine cities are contained within the Coachella Valley to include Palm Springs, Cathedral City, Indian Wells, and Desert Hot Springs. In addition to a collective setting, the characters within each story all are searching for a sense of belonging in their literal and figurative homes.
