Summary
Cesar Caballero interviewed Tom Rivera, the lead in the South Colton history program. Rivera began the interview discussing his history in education and in the Peace Corps. The conversation then moved on to his eventual long-term employment with California State University, San Bernardino. He mentioned that his later illness was a factor in the university’s decision to create more accessible doors and other entryways. Both men discussed the resources that Rivera had been able to provide CCalifornia State University, San Bernardino and other colleges with, such as HACU and SAIL. Rivera spoke of his later research on the history of South Colton and how sports integrated diverse youth. The interview ends with Rivera’s comments on the future of success for Mexican Americans and the diverse community.
