Abstract
In this interview, Elizabeth Hangan, David McNeil, and Mike McNeil are the guests. They answer various questions regarding music, social activism, childhood memories, and the Civil Rights Movement in the Inland Empire. The majority of the recording itself revolves around the intersectionality between musical and social activism. The guests also talk about local music scenes, such as the old Penny University in San Bernardino, as well as the brothers’ family traveling cross-country to perform at concerts. Other notable mentions include playing in schools and meeting actors, activist leaders, and other musicians of that era. The brothers and Hangan talk about how their fathers were close friends and recorded music. The interview ends with the story about the concert at Cathedral City, which did not end well and led to some of the McNeil family becoming embarrassed.
