Abstract
Jennifer Tilton interviewed Richard H. Patterson, Sr., a man with roots in San Bernardino. Throughout the recording, Patterson went into the history of living in San Bernardino, religious roles in the city and in Texas, and his education. As a man with a religious background and interest, the interviewee speaks on his family’s own religious roles and community engagement. The topic of racism in the workplace and housing is also described. Patterson was also a teacher, teaching in different San Bernardino schools. Tilton asked her interviewee about instances of activism, which Patterson connects back to influence from his family. The interview ends with Patterson reminiscing about school memories as well as explaining class issues.
