Abstract
Lea Michelle Cash interviews Keith Lee, a man with incredible feats in the Inland Empire. Lee starts by discussing his introduction to golf and how it was able to help him as a past athlete. He is also a member of two clubs for Black golfers, The Honors Golf Club and The Inland Empire Golf Club. He is also the treasurer and photographer of The Honors Golf Club. Lee is then asked about his proudest accomplishment, which he explains is winning the Western States Golf Association tournament twice. Cash then talks to Lee about being considered the “Prince of the Inland Empire” and who inspired his life, that being first God and his mother second. The topic of the Second Chance Program is brought up, which was a special program for Lee. He was once in the program and then was able to get employment in it after college. The figure in the program, Frances Grice, is mentioned by Lee as another figure who inspired him into community activism and political matters. There is also the case where Lee and another person, while in The West Side Action Group, fought for the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday to be an actual holiday. The interview ends with Lee advising those who want to get involved in golf and for women to follow their dreams and intuitions.
