Journal of Critical Issues in Educational Practice

Volume 15, Number 1 (2026)

From the Editors

A colleague once made the remark that publishing is like teaching, sharing your knowledge and ideas, but with a broader audience. Publishing also involves some risk in that once you put it in print, there is no taking it back - you own it. We have always considered it courageous to submit something for publication, and we appreciate those willing to take the risk.

Our colleagues from a partner university, Universidad Autónoma de Baja California, Drs. Martinez, Lopez, and Palafox report on the work of the Educational Inclusion Commission in Mexico that was convened to support the development of public policy for inclusive higher education.

CSUSB faculty member and department chair, Dr. Joseph Scarcella, argues that flight instruction exemplifies Ernest Boyer’s concept of the scholarship of application, where theory and practice are integrated through reflective, experience-based teaching.

A brief report of the dissertation of CSUSB, Doctor of Education graduate Erika Tejeda, is the third article in this issue. This study provides an important contribution to educational leadership by centering the voices of Chicana/Latina secondary administrators, a group that has often been overlooked in research. Dr. Clark-Louque was the chair of this dissertation committee.

We continue to be grateful to those who helped to make this journal reach publication. We ask you to submit your work for publication consideration, in particular, work that is collaborative in nature.
