Abstract
In August of 2019, the University Honors Program convened a group of faculty representing three disciplines: English, Philosophy, and Communication Studies. This faculty team produced guidelines for the design of courses in the Honors Program's semester-based first-year curriculum. This document presents those guidelines, which include learning outcomes for each course, recommended types of assignment, and strategies for making connections across courses. The individual course guidelines are prefaced by general guidelines that situate the Honors curriculum within High Impact Practices and that highlight the program's emphasis on metacognition and integrative learning.
