Abstract
This presentation discusses two complementary digital projects to better document Black history and culture in Inland Southern California. The first is a community-based collaborative initiative between three local area universities to capture the accounts, experiences, and personal narratives from members of the Black community in San Bernardino and Riverside counties; the focus here is on collaborative digital collection building efforts. The second project is a related documentation project to locate notable stories, events, milestones, and people from CSUSB’s Black community; this discussion is centered on student engagement and the process used for surfacing relevant content in digitized university publications.
