Abstract
Human trafficking of children has progressed over the years and has yet to be stopped. This research proposal will focus on the children at the highest risk of human trafficking in California. Previous work has failed to address the leading causes of children being human trafficked in California. This research will use a qualitative design method to conduct an in-depth interviews with individuals over 18 years of age who have been human trafficked as minors. By doing this, the researchers will gather data to help determine the perpetrators’ decision-making regarding how victims are chosen. Thematic analysis will be used to analyze the data.
This research will provide a better understanding of underlying issues that exist with children being trafficked in California. This research will help lower the rate of children being trafficked by understanding which children are at the highest risk of being trafficked.
