Summary
In this guest presentation at the Colton Area Museum, historian Mel Salazar speaks. He speaks on the baseball history in Colton and of teams such as the Mercury Señoritas. The majority of Salazar’s presentation was on the topic of Juan Caldera. The latter individual allowed the south side of the city to prosper and have resources despite his personal struggles and social obstacles. After talking about the businesses and people Caldera had worked on, Salazar and the audience spoke about the history of local families and again baseball. The interview ends with Mel Salazar and Augie Caldera being given commemorative Colton coins by Dr. Luis S. Gonzalez.
