Summary
Tom Rivera interviews Adaljiza “Ada” Sosa-Riddell, a woman who was born in and lived most of her life in South Colton. Sosa-Riddell has an extensive family history in the area, especially her father and mother. Her father specifically, as he was always involved in unions and encouraging people to get an education. Sosa-Riddell continues to speak of the struggle she and her family struggled with while in poverty. Due to the resilience of her parents, Sosa-Riddell was able to get up to a master’s degree in political science. She then continues to speak about the memories of South Colton, particularly how de facto segregation had shaped South Colton at the time. The interview ends with Sosa-Riddell speaking of disturbing dreams, including one where she saw a concentration camp.
