Abstract
Sam and Ellena Richey talk about their experiences moving to Redlands in the 1970s and share stories of their childhoods in the South. Mrs. Richey was an active member of the Redlands’ Second Baptist Church and became a deaconess, and she shares memories of Pastor Anthony Green and Pastor Jackie Green. Mr. Richey tells stories of his work in the Air Force whilst being stationed overseas and his time at the March Air Force Base as a master sergeant. They share their experiences supporting their children when facing racism in Redlands public schools, their views on the origins of prejudice and how to deal with it, and their reflections on the Black Lives Matter movement.
