Abstract
Dina Walker talks in-depth about her decision to run for a position on the Rialto Unified School Board and the process of getting started as a politician. She shares her emotional response when she was endorsed by the organizations San Bernardino Central Committee, Democratic Women’s Club, and the Teacher’s Association. Dina Walker talks about her business, BLU Foundation, which helps kids succeed educationally and how her experience in that work gave her the qualifications and confidence to run for the school board. Ratibu Jacocks asks her about historic Black political leaders in the region and tells her how they could help guide her in her upcoming term as a board member. She also talks about the future and what she hopes people say about her long after she has vacated the position.
