Abstract
Flora Williams interviews Carl Norman and Shirly Norman, a priest and a first lady in their church, respectively. Carl begins his discussion about moving from Tennessee to California and attending Pasadena City College. After accepting his Baptism faith and having the aid of his friend Pastor Jesse L. Jackson, Carl went to La Verne College to continue his religious education. He then discusses taking the place of the previous pastor, who was elderly and an icon in the church. Shirley is next to speak and she discusses her role in the church’s Women’s Ministry Group. She talks about the advice she has for young women, such as accepting God and being modest and obedient. Carl also has advice for young men, which includes how to reach out to people and how to treat women. The interview ends with Carl’s advice for the Black community as well as his wish that all denominations can work together with the same gospel.
