Abstract

Myrna Shehee discusses her childhood experiences moving from Pittsburgh, PA to Redlands, CA in the 1950s, with her veteran husband. Mrs. Shehee speaks about her children’s pleasant experience at Lincoln Elementary School, her community stories from Redlands, and the current injustices she sees in the media. Mrs. Shehee explains how her husband became a seamstress and her occasional job as a teaching assistant at Kingsbury Elementary School. Shehee describes the support she received from Second Baptist Church, which helped her financially, kept her children’s behavior in check, and gave her a sense of place in her community.
