Abstract

Ratibu Jacocks interviewed Dorothy Lee Carter-Seales, a cousin of his wife Wilmer Amina Carter. Carter-Seales briefly described her family background as well as her time in school. The majority of the recording centered around her being raised in agriculture, usually with crops such as cotton. She recounted that being well-known to many people saved her from being physically harmed and that she continued to work hard after her stroke. After speaking about her impressions of her families the Carters, Grahams, and Culversons, Carter-Seales mentioned her children and grandchildren. The brief interview ended with Carter-Seales’s recollection of supernatural events and her lack of fear of many things such as snakes.
