Summary

Tom Rivera interviews Frank Gonzales, who was Colton’s mayor, and Cesar Caballero, the dean of the Pfau Library. In this interview, Gonzales goes over his time starting as a city councilman to six-term mayor of Colton. Gonzales had also done work in unions and was even president of United Steelworkers of America. As the conversations shift from one topic to another, Gonzales recollects his time working in the field to harvest crops with others. He also speaks about having to deal with racism in his own school and around the community of South Colton. To end the interview, Gonzales speaks about the importance of giving education to the younger generation. He believes that to make good leaders in the future, education is important from the very beginning.
