Abstract

After a 6 month Foundation Seminar (FS) Faculty Learning Community, a syllabus for a Foundations course in Environmental Sustainability was developed and described on the attached poster.

The course NSCI1200 – “Scientific Thinking for Community Resilience” satisfies GE category E (California State University)

This presentation poster provides a course description, high-impact activities and skill sets designed to engage and empower students to become active, responsible lifelong learners.

Included are the Student Learning Outcomes (SLO’s 1-6) associated with each high-impact activity.

Exploration of scientific ways of thinking and other approaches to solve a community environmental problem and development of academic skill sets that are transferable to other courses are emphasized.
