The Department of History is part of the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences and offers three undergraduate majors, a history minor, and participates in the MA Social Sciences program. The department is committed to excellent instruction and high levels of research. The department offers courses in all areas of the world, including Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, Middle East and the United States. It is one of the few in the country to offer an undergraduate degree in Public and Oral History.

The CSUSB History Department also sponsors the student-run publication, History in the Making, which is archived in CSUSB ScholarWorks.
