The Inland Empire Hispanic News was founded in 1987 by Graciano Gomez. On April 21, 2009 the United States Congress recognized the 22nd anniversary of the Inland Empire Hispanic News, stating, in part: "Mr. Gomez understood that in order to advocate for the greater Hispanic community, he needed to provide a common unified communication vehicle that highlighted both the positive accomplishments within the greater community, as well as the public policies and issues at hand….The [Founding] Board established that the major goals of the Inland Empire Hispanic News would be the advocacy of education, economic development, volunteerism, and political activity that were of critical interest to the greater Hispanic community." The first issue was delivered to 6,000 homes and 3,000 more copies were sent to businesses, schools, and elected officials. It was published between twice and four times a month until 2010. The extant back issues were donated to California State University¹s Special Collections. We are in the process of digitizing the issues we have so that they will be available to researchers all over the world.
