Abstract
This analysis of scientific writing defines the generic experimental article as socio-epistemic discourse in terms of Charles Bazerman's empirical, social, and literary contraints for scientific activity. Such analysis provides answers to specific questions concerning conflicts between individual rhetorical practices and collaborative knowledge construction in science as claims and new concepts are evaluated.
