Abstract
The purpose of this project was to design a one-year curriculum for 3 to 5 year old low-income and minority children in the Pasadena and Glendale area, with the goal of child-initiated learning. The content of the curriculum will consist of a modification of the High/Scope program, consisting of an active learning program and using a plan-do-review sequence. The proposed early childhood curriculum relies heavily on active, child-initiated learning experiences during which children plan, or express their intentions, carry out their intentions in play experiences and then reflect on their accomplishments.
