Abstract
Pro Se is a collection of poetry that attempts to blur traditional boundaries of genre, form and language. Within Pro Se, a variety of intimate subject matter is gently tackled, ranging from sex, love, and childbirth to miscarriage and memory poems of an alcoholic mother and a neglecting father, through multiple blurred forms: The sonnets are often narrative poems, the narrative poems are often lyrical poems, the lyrical poems are often prose poems, the prose poems are often syntactical nightmares about a husband's first love sonnet, and so on.
