Abstract
The intent of this research is to determine the relationship, if any, between social worker characteristics such as age, gender, parental status, years of experience as a social worker, education level and the perception of safety and risk factors in child abuse investigations. The research study will focus on the public sector of child welfare, specifically the initial investigation period (Investigative Services program) within Riverside County Department of Public Social Services in Riverside, California. A quantitative questionnaire was provided to social workers currently assigned within Investigative Services (IS) programs.
