Abstract
The purpose of this study is to find definitive changes within the dynamics of friendships and families in relation to the questions of information and communication technology (ICT) use and how it affects social capital of the elderly and their families and friends. What is now considered ordinary operations such as dialing, texting, photographing, gaming, email and voice mail, downloading, etc., is not viewed as ordinary forms of communication by some people and particularly, not by portions of the elderly population.
