Abstract
The author shares a collection of five of his short stories in this thesis. Humor serves as the major unifying fabric of the collection, but there are also several recurring themes that appear throughout. On the surface there is the theme of familial circumstance. Under the rug, there are the inevitable and abrupt natures of violence. Additionally, each story's main character illustrates an attituded of reluctant subversion; a concept that claims the title of this collection.
