"Stores, Clubs, Music, and Work"
Dean César Caballero of the Pfau Library, at CSUSB, joins Dr. Tom Rivera for the first part of this interview with Bobby Vásquez and Rudy Oliva, as they remember Mexican businesses and institutions on 7th Street in South Colton. Rudy and Bobby reminisce about old friends, swimming holes, local dance bands, teenage boys’ clubs, athletics in school, discrimination from school administrators, and military service. They discuss housing issues, trouble getting jobs, and extensive memories of community sports including the Mercuries baseball team and Juan Caldera’s sport’s complex.
