With Honor: A Comparison of WWII and Vietnam veterans
Abstract
My research is an ongoing in depth analysis of WWII and Vietnam veterans. Specifically looking into the formation of the "Good War" narrative as well as the questioning the common narratives associated with the Vietnam war. The "Good war" narrative is one connected to WWII and the idea that everything surrounding the war including the soldiers and their experiences were perfect in every way. The narratives surrounding Vietnam include those of the rejected veterans, the anti-war movement, and the overall societal disgust with the wars veterans. Analyzing these narratives through secondary sources as well as primary sources such as newspapers will allow me to challenge these classic narratives.
