Abstract

"My Grandfather’s Grocery Store in South Colton"

Summary

Dr. Tom Rivera interviews Charles (Charlie) Cervantes regarding the history of the Cervantes Market, which first opened on 7th Street, and later operated for many years at the northeast corner of La Cadena Drive (8th Street) and ‘M’ Street. The Cervantes Market played a key role in South Colton life. In the interview Charles explains much about the history of his family, of the stores in the barrios, of the fiestas in South Colton, and about his own career.
