Abstract

Title: Motivation, Knowledge, and Confidence in Stock Market Investing Among a Diverse College Student Population: An Exploratory Study Assessing Impact of Stock Market Simulation Games Hypothesis: Research on CSUSB students’ response to the stock market is being conducted. Through the stock market simulator, the goal is to understand students’ perspective on their personal finance and the economy. Additionally, the research is expected to increase student motivation, knowledge, and confidence regarding finance through a virtual stock market game. Methods: Using Qualtrics survey program, participants’ demographic information as well as point of views regarding finance will be collected before having everyone sign in the game. In order to compare the participants’ view before and after the game, another survey with the same questions will be given out when the game ends. R statistical software will be used to organize and analyze all the obtained data. Results: By the end of the study, it is expected that CSUSB students will be more knowledgeable about the stock market and the economy, and more aware of their current financial situation, whether it is good or bad. Conclusion: It is expected that CSUSB students will be able to take more initiative to their personal finance according to what they will learn from participating in this research.
