Abstract

Reverend Arnette Carpenter describes her longtime friend and fellow church member, Jack Hill. She describes Mr. Hill as one of the most loving and kind people she has ever known, and someone who reminds her of her own father. She shares several stories that illustrate Jack's character, including how he and her father connected over their shared experiences in World War II. Reverend Carpenter also recounts how her young granddaughter recognized Jack's picture in the local library, which had been named after him, and how Jack has been an inspiring example of perseverance and faith after the passing of his wife. Reverend Arnette’s account paints a portrait of Jack Hill as a beloved and admired member of the church community who has touched the lives of many through his kindness, warmth, and unwavering spirit.
